The SHS-UHN Antimicrobial Stewardship Program

The Sinai Health System-University Health Network Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (SHS-UHN ASP) has been active since 2009.  The SHS-UHN ASP uses a collaborative and evidence-based approach to improve the quality of antimicrobial use by getting patients the right antibiotics, when they need them.  The ASP follows PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) quality improvement methodology to pursue the best possible clinical outcomes for its patients, relying heavily on patient-centred data.

Our Vision

The Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) team will use innovative evidence-based practice in transforming the way antibiotics are prescribed and used in clinical practice, while enhancing its research and education scope to "ensure patients receive the right antibiotics ... when they need them."
